PayPal “Go green” card: heading to the future

The last project we took over as a digital marketing startup company, during our lesson “Introduction to Advertising and Public Relations” was the make of the new advertising campaign of PayPal. As a team we decided on having an ecologic related campaign since the environmental issues tend to be more and more serious as the years pass.

We have already seen many well-known brands and many people turning to a more eco-friendly way of life. We came to the conclusion of a credit card, “green card” which will reward the consumers when they buy ecological stuff by a few points which will be able to be used in future purchases. In that way we support the small businesses as well as the ecological project. The most exciting part though is the fact that the “Go green” card is made out of bamboo and little seeds! We were inspired by other stuff we have seen made out of this “technology” such as pencils that are able to be planted when they are no longer usable. In that way when the credit card expires the only thing you have to do is soak it in the water for 24 hours so as to soften. After that it’s ready to be put into the soil and grow into a beautiful flower! The interesting part is that you will not know what kind of seeds you got until the flower blossoms.

The way we decided to promote the brand-new campaign of PayPal was through social media, a promoting video and our site. For the last one, we simply uploaded on https://infocreadivity.wixsite.com/creadivity useful information about what was coming from PayPal so people get to know a little bit about it. We emphasized our promotion on Instagram since our target group is of course everyone but mainly gen Z and millennials. The first ones are now ready to get a credit card. Social media tends to be a great way for product placement and advertising nowadays and the environmental issues are at this age such a great problem which mostly concerns these age groups. We made many posts and stories on Instagram “@cread.ivity” to prepare our audience for the launch day of the product and gave them hints and information about the “Go green” credit card.

Lastly, we uploaded the official campaign video. For the video we wanted a fresh and aesthetically pleasing vibe that matches the idea of ‘’Go green” era. So we created a campaign video that provided the basic information of the new ‘’Go green’’ idea, but with an interesting visual twist. We focused the color palette on more earthy and green colors to match the environmental idea and taste we wanted to give. Just because our target group is mainly gen Z and Millennials we gave the extra time to create a video that is satisfying visually because those two generations are surrounded by social media and the visual part is really important.

Our campaign was not made to keep up with today’s standards, but a more educational and awareness raising idea to bring people closer to the problem and to leave our own imprint on the elimination of the environmental problems that have been caused by the years of plastic use.
